All About Girl Scouting

Today, Girl Scouts has a membership of more than 3.3 million girls and adults, and over 50 million women in the United States are Girl Scout alumnae. You belong to a powerful organization of - and for - girls. The Girl Scout Mission, Promise, and Law speak to the vision we all share for girls and inspire each of us to work on behalf of tomorrow's leaders.

Girl Scout Mission
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong,
and responsible for what I say and do,
and to
repect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place,
and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Girls at Every Grade Level
Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls - all girls - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Daisy Girl Scouts is the youngest Girl Scout program designed for girls in Kindergarten and 1st grade. As Daisy Girl Scouts the girls enjoy arts and crafts projects like finger-painting murals and paper-bag puppets, simple trips to pick pumpkins or making snacks, planting a community garden, and earning patches for activities like reading fun books or helping their community.

The Brownie Girl Scout Program is designed for girls in 2nd and 3rd grade. As a Brownie Girl Scout the girls spend more time with their peer group and turn to peers for information. And with their increased attention span, they are able to focus on the past, future and present. They think in concrete terms but are beginning to process more abstract concepts and complex ideas.
